not really a question, more of an observation--I'd been off tumblr for over a month and when your art just popped up I realized I had missed it!! always a delight to see :)
oh wow! Thank you! Its been about a month since I’ve really posted anything I’ve liked, so thats kinda funny! (I haven’t been creating much work lately, but that seems to be changing). I think perhaps I missed you! :) Where did you go for a month? A vacation? Or a detox from Tumblr?
'Fist Fight With a Frog' is stunning! and im not just saying that i love how you combine vivid pinks and yellows, yellow is a colour I never seem to use, must sort that. Also where did the title come from, I love it, I'm currently having a battle my own work.
Thanks, friend! I love that seascape painting of yours so much. I seriously though it was rendered from a photograph or something. It’s strange how its so clearly a painting and surreal but so not at the same time. Awesome!
And thank you! I always struggle with choosing colours, I worry I always fall into the same old thing! The title came from the song "Good Intentions Paving Company" by Joanna Newsom. My friend Aime played it the other night and I fell in love with it. So we played it over and over and over again, and when it was over, I had painted this. It’s been awhile since I have had such a love affair with a single song, and [what felt like] an equal amount of time painting things I’m unhappy with!
ETA: I just realized I never answered your question. The line “Fist Fight With A Fog” is a line FROM that song.
"Like a bump on a bump on a log, baby like I’m in a fist fight with a fog, Step-ball-change and a pirouette, And I regret I regret”
sad day - please reblog if willing! STUDIO SPACE AVAILABLE FOR RENT IN TORONTO. ITS A STEAL!
I just found out that my leaseholder will be moving out of the studio come October 1. That means, unlesswe can find others willing to take over the available spots in the next two months, we are out, too. If you, or anyone you know happens to be looking for a really solid, beautiful industrial loft-like space in Toronto for making things, please, please, please let me know. I would love to take over the lease and sub-lease it to you. Please tell your friends. This studio has basically been the sole instrument in how prolific I have been these past few months. I would hate for that to come to an end. Here is the original posting, though some things have changed. In the event we can find people, we will likely be taking over “Jenna’s Spot”. That means there will be one window spot available, plus the two spots in the middle. Words cannot express what this space has meant to me, and I will do everything I can to accommodate you so that we can keep it. The total rent is $1200, so ideally we’d like each space be $300. Please reblog, or pass this along to anyone you think may be interested. I should note that it is completely acceptable if you would like to share your one space with a friend, to cut costs. That is what we do now, and it has worked for us beautifully. Thanks for all your help in advance.
900 sq foot loft split into 4 semi private studio spaces ($300 each).
3 Spaces available (including 1 window space)
Bathroom (with shower), Kitchen with fridge, double-sink and counter space.
4 Large North Facing windows with lots of natural light
Hardwood floors, Exposed beams [making it easy to close off your space!]/brick + Fire escape (dream)
A/C unit in the available Window-space
As someone who has spent months looking for a solid, affordable space in Toronto, I can honestly say this is the best you’re gonna get for that budget. We are friendly, open-minded, and just want to stick around and create more art. With you.
We would really like to make this into a space that is constantly buzzing with creation. If you think you maybe even slightly interested, please send me an email and we can discuss it further.
